Saddle Flocking and Tack Repairs
At RSO Leather we offer a professional service and we ensure that any repairs or flocking carried out will result in your saddle/tack being safe, fit for purpose and comfortable for the horse.
Flocking and/or saddle adjustments are normally carried out following either a recommendation from your saddle fitter or an equine specialist such as vet or physio in relation to ensuring the correct fit of the saddle. As with all tack, saddles should be checked regularly for safety and to ensure correct fit and comfort for the horse.
Sometimes it is necessary to partly dismantle a saddle before it can be established what faults may be present and recommend the necessary repairs to restore the saddle to be safe and fit for purpose.
Normally we do not charge for this initial investigation because a quotation will be given for any work that is subsequently found necessary.
Occasionally this investigation may result in faults being found that result in the saddle being beyond economical repair, or you as the customer may decide that the quotation to repair the saddle is more than you are prepared to pay.
In these instances it is not the policy of RSO Leather to reassemble the saddle as we are not prepared to return the saddle in a condition where it could be unwittingly used in the future in an unsafe condition.
By booking your saddle into our workshop for investigation into a possible fault or in order to quote for a repair you are agreeing to our terms of business as explained in this policy.

Regularly check items for wear and tear. If your item becomes damaged please contact us to arrange a repair. If a repair is needed this will be charged accordingly.
Brass and Nickel fittings may become dull over time, to get the shine back you can use a brass or silver polish and a multi-purpose oil to help if fittings become stiff.
Leather is a natural product and will over time darken in colour. Colours of leather may appear differently on screens.
When leather items are new, occasionally you may see that excess edge stain can rub off new leather (this can happen with animals as their fur/coats rubs on the edges of the leather). This will stop naturally over time.
Leather Care
If your leather item does get wet we recommend leaving the product to dry naturally away from direct heat and once dry, using a leather conditioner to help put back in oils that have been lost.
Do not leave leather products on or near a direct heat source as this will cause the leather to dry out.
Leather is a natural product that loses a small amount of oil every day of its life, this needs to be put back in to stop it drying out and cracking using a good quality leather balm.
To clean your leather item wipe first with some lukewarm water and a sponge. Once it has dried naturally you can apply a good quality leather balm and buff with a dry, clean cloth or brush.
